Why do I need to register?

There are many features you can use on ProgTalk without registering for an account. However, you need to register in order to have a personalized homepage based on your interests, create a profile, post comments on discussion forums, and exchange messages with other members. Registering allows you to get the most out of ProgTalk!

Can I use the ProgTalk Web site without registering?

Yes, but use is limited to certain features. Non-registered users can still access articles, perform keyword searches, and browse blogs, public profiles, videos, and discussion forums. If you attempt to use a feature or access a section of the site that's only available to registered users, you'll be prompted to register or log in.

Is registration free?

Yes, registration is quick, easy, and absolutely free.

What is a screen name?

During registration, you create a screen name of your choice to use as your "public name" on the ProgTalk site (such as ProgrammerJohn77, RickyMartin101, or any other fictitious name). Other members will only see your screen name; you never have to reveal your real identity if you don't wish to do so. Your screen name will appear on your public profile, in private messages, and in all postings on discussion forums, and blogs.

Why is my e-mail address required?

We need your e-mail address so we can send communication to you and alert you when other members send you private messages. We keep your e-mail address confidential at all times. Other members will never see your personal e-mail address, unless you choose to share it with them.

Are there age requirements for registration?

No. To register, you can be of any age.

Why should I enter my information on ProgTalk.com?

Entering information such as your gender, birth date, location information, and interests allows us to offer you personalized news, articles, and other useful features and tools. Entering most of this information is optional, and we keep it private if you choose.
